Why This Contest Matters

Some Photographs Outlive the Moment They Were Taken.

A photograph preserves what memory alone cannot hold. It changes how a nation sees its own coastlines, its own mountains, its own faces. It inspires a nineteen-year-old in Davao to pick up a camera for the first time, and it gives a lifetime photographer in Ilocos the recognition their work has always deserved. Every entry in this contest becomes part of the Philippines' visual record — and that deserves a national stage.
